What if I want to
breed my dog someday?

We do not sell dogs to be used solely as breeding animals. We have a responsibility to our puppies and our dogs. As breeders, we made the decision to bring our puppies into this world. We loved them first, and when they leave our care, we want them to have the highest quality of life possible. This means a loving family and a bonded relationship with their people.

In order to protect our puppies and their lineage, we sell our pups on “limited registration”, which is a non-breeding type of registration offered by the AKC. We do offer the opportunity to "earn" breeding rights. Although pups are sold on ltd. registration, we are happy to reverse the ltd. status if and when the owner and dog team accomplish all of the following:

For Both Cockers and Goldens:
  • The dog reaches age 24 mos. or older and has passing results on OFA hips.
  • The dog reaches age 24 mos. or older and has a current CERF eye clearance.
  • The dog has earned at least one of the following: AKC JH title (junior hunter), AKC CD title (companion dog, obedience), AKC NA (novice agility), AKC NAJ (novice agility jumpers), a CKC CH (Canadian Kennel Club Championship), or a minimum or 3 points in the U.S. AKC breed ring (conformation).

For Goldens, this additional requirement applies:
  • The dog reaches age 24 mos. or older and has passing results on OFA elbows.

For puppies/dogs that are sold to competition homes, we do not charge more for a breeding / show prospect than we charge for a pet / companion puppy  at the time of sale. Instead, we ask for a puppy back from a female’s first litter (2nd pick, after you if you are keeping one, or 1st pick if you are not keeping one for yourself). For males, we ask for breeding rights to use the male at stud within our own breeding program for the purpose of breeding one litter. These puppies and / or breeding rights are to be transferred to our ownership with no financial compensation paid to the buyer, and any pup(s) we receive will maintain the “Dal-Rhe” prefix.

Note: AKC show prospects need "full registration" in order to be eligible to show in AKC conformation events, so in the case of a show prospect, our names would remain on the dog’s  papers as co-owners ( in addition to the new family member’s name) until the conditions listed above are met (reaching age 2, obtaining a title and health clearances, and selecting our puppy).

A happy dog is one who is loved, trained, and cherished. Please take good care of your Dal-Rhe doggies!

Thank You!
